Description

“Four Americans in Paris: The Collections of Gertrude Stein and Her Family”.

‘Four Americans in Paris’ is an exhibition catalogue from The Museum of Modern Art, New York, 1970.

It tells the story of the art collection of Gertrude Stein (1874-1946) and her family; Leo Stein, Michael Stein and Sarah Stein.

From their first purchases of Matisse and Picasso the Stein family began to acquire a remarkable collection of art. This catalogue tells their story in detail with numerous photographs of the family and their studio where examples of their purchases can be seen.

This catalogue is in good condition. The book has black and white and colour plates from their collection plus a catalogue of the 1970 exhibition.

An interesting article on the Paris apartment where Gertrude Stein, Matisse and Picasso mingled.
