Sometime Never, Clare Leighton, 1939

Sometime Never, Clare Leighton, 1939

This copy of Sometime Never by Clare Leighton is a first edition, published in New York in 1939. Clare Leighton (1898-1989) is best know for her beautiful wood engravings. This book has another example of her work. It is illustrated throughout with wonderful lithographs.

The story is written by her. It is set on a transatlantic liner on New Year’s Eve. To quote the text on the dust-wrapper this unusual story portrays: … the simply stated belief of a human being in the possibility of true happiness.

This is a lovely illustrated book. It is a hardback with its full colour dust-wrapper. The book also has a colour cover. The lithographs are all black and white. The dust-wrapper is slightly chipped. The inside pages of the book are clean and bright. There is a small tear on the fly sheet.
