Published in London in 1953 by Hamish Hamilton. According to The Raymond Chandler Papers, 2000, he thought The Long Good-Bye to be his best novel. It won the 1955 Edgar Award for Best Novel.
Chandler is one of the great writers of crime fiction. His writing had an immense influence on popular fiction. His main character Philip Marlow is one of the great private detectives of of that genre.
The dust-jacket, illustrated by Fritz Wegner, is nicely printed and enhances the book. There is some very slight foxing in the end-papers. The inside pages are clean and bright. The book is in very good condition.
