The Hank Janson books with their erotic pin-up covers were a publishing sensation in Britain until the authorities clamped down with the harsh obscenity laws of that time.
The main illustrator for the covers of the Hank Janson books was Reginald Webb (1901-1957). He signed his illustrations as ‘Heade’. He is reported to have produced around 300 illustrations for the Hank Janson paperbacks. Books with his illustrations are the most sought after by collectors. Reginald Webb also worked for Pan Books, Panther Books and others. He also signed his work as ‘Cy Webb’.
