The Way To God, Arthur Wragg
The Way to God is a very rare booklet, illustrated by Arthur Wragg (1903-1976) and published by the British Broadcasting Corporation in 1934. It contains the text of seventeen lectures broadcast on the BBC between 7th October 1934 and 21st July 1935.
These lectures would have been broadcast on the radio. Television was only just beginning in the UK in 1935. The introduction by William Arbor, the Archbishop of York, is interesting, in that he seems unsure of the ability of broadcasting to reach people in the most effective way.
The illustrations by Arthur Wragg are wonderful. They are in his unique dramatic black and white style. He was a Christian and pacifist – an artist and illustrator who’s work promoted comment and social change. This booklet is a rare opportunity to see more of his work.
This is a softback booklet in good condition. The cover is printed in green and black. It is very slightly scuffed on the corners. The inside pages are clean and bright.
