Winston Churchill’s speech, Here is the course we steer, 1945 is a rare booklet from March 1945.
The booklet publishes the speech by Winston Churchill called Here is the course we steer where Churchill maps out the tasks that face the UK as the war in Europe comes to an end.
The speech was delivered to the Conservative Party Conference on March 15th 1945. Churchill mentions that the war in Europe is almost won and that the war against Japan needs to be finished. It outlines Churchill’s Four Year Plan including plans for the UK’s National Insurance scheme, which evolved into the National Health Service, plans for education and the rebuilding of the UK’s cities, his employment plans and more.
This Winston Churchill speech also reflects on the course of the war and some specific events.
This rare survival from 1945 is a twelve page booklet plus paper covers with photographs and an introductory letter from the Gloucester Conservative & Unionist Association.
The cover is a little scuffed on the edges and slightly marked. The inside pages are a little dog-eared but are clean and readable.
