Postcards was Annie Proulx’s first novel. For this she won the PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction. She followed this by winning the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and the U.S. National Book Award for Fiction for her second novel The Shipping News. Her story Brokeback Mountain was turned into a major movie which won several awards. She also won several other literary awards, and has evolved as one of America’s great writers.
This uncorrected proof is signed by Annie Proulx on the title page. This is not a printed signature. The book is dated 1992.
The launch of Postcards must have been an exciting time for her. She had previously published short stories, Heart Songs and Other Stories. This was here first novel which quickly launched her to public attention. In our opinion since then she has written a series of remarkable books.
