Demelza by Winston Graham

This book, Demelza, is the first American edition of the second book in the celebrated Poldark series by Winston Graham. ‘A novel of stormy devotion in Cornwall, 1788-1790.’

In America the first book in the Poldark series was called The Renegade. It introduced the two main characters Ross Poldark and Demelza.

Demelza by Winston Graham is a first edition hardback. The dust jacket has a powerful illustration of Demelza by Arthur Shilstone; showing her looking windblown and beautiful as she gazes on the Cornish coast. The dust jacket is slightly scuffed on the edges and the back is slightly marked. There is a nice ‘ex-libris’ sticker on the inside of the cover. The book is in very good condition.

This copy of Demelza by Winston Graham was published by Doubleday & Company, New York in 1953.

The BBC created a new adaptation of the Poldark saga in March 2015. It starred Aidan Turner as Ross Poldark and Eleanor Tomlinson as Demelza – and has become a major global success.
