Waltz with Bashir – a Lebanon War Story is one of those graphic novels that are an important testimony to war crimes and the chronic savagery and sadness of war in the Middle East.

Written by Ari Folman, a Tel Aviv-based filmmaker, and illustrated by David Polonsky. Waltz with Bashir – a Lebanon War Story tells the story of the Sabra and Shatila massacre of Palestinians by Christian militia in Beirut in 1982, as observed by Israeli soldiers nearby.

David Polonsky’s powerful illustrations make this is a classic war-testimony graphic novel.

Published by Atlantic Books, London, 2009. A softcover book in good condition. The glue on the outer cover has loosened slightly. The inside pages are clean and bright.

Waltz with Bashir – a Lebanon War Story was made into an animated documentary in 1996.
