This is a lovely copy of one of Kathleen Hale’s beautifully illustrated stories of Orland, The Marmalade Cat. This story The Frisky Housewife is full of her rich and colourful lithographs.
This is a hardback, first edition, published by Country Life in 1956. It is printed by W. S. Cowell, a London based printer who specialised in working with artists, and in particular producing high quality lithographs.
Kathleen Hale (1898-2000 ) studied at the Central School of Art in London. Her Orlando books are highly prized by collectors for the quality of her hand-drawn lithographs.
This book is in excellent condition. The inside pages are clean and bright. The lithographs are beautifully printed. A lovely survivor from the 1950s.
