Richard Hamilton, AAH!, 1961

This Richard Hamilton screenprint, AAH!, 1961, was made by the British artist Richard Hamilton (1922-2011) in 1982. It is a signed Collotype and screenprint, number 80 of an edition of 100.

The print is based on his early 1960s paintings on the subject of automobile styling. He writes about this in his 1982 book Collected Words.

The catalogue published in 1984 by Waddington Graphics, London, entitled Richard Hamilton, Prints 1939-83 features this print.

The Collotype was printed by E Schreiber, Stuttgart, on Deutsch-Japanpapier. It was screenprinted at Frank Kicherer, Stuttgart. Richard Hamilton always worked closely with his printers to produce his prints and catalogues. This print is no exception. It is mounted and signed by the artist. Published by the Waddington Gallery, London in 1982.

It is interesting to note that the mixture of Collotype and screenprint uses white on the paper to give this print a wonderful painterly quality.

Sheet size: 230 x 370mm, mounted on board 385 x 490mm.

This Richard Hamilton screenprint is unframed and in excellent condition.
