The English Home, Doreen Yarwood – a thousand years of furnishing and decoration.
This remarkable illustrated book was first published in 1956. This copy is from 1959.
Doreen Yarwood (1919-1999) designed and illustrated this book with over 700 line drawings. She felt that the photographs available to historians and students only show part of a room or building and that only with illustrations could a room be depicted as it was. There are also photographs in this book.
It is a wonderful reference book for anyone interested in architecture, interior design, furniture and a host of items that make up the English home from Saxon times to the First World War.
This book has no dustwrapper. The cover is a little worn. The inside titles pages are marked but the inside pages with the text, illustrations and photographs are clean and bright.
